Silver Story

Balinese silver crafts have been known for a long time, where in the past they were used as equipment for Hindu religious ceremonies and equipment for the needs of the royal palace. The form emphasizes the useful function with decoration that contains symbolic value and also aesthetic value. The most famous place for silver craft production is Celuk village which is located in Sukawati the regency of Gianyar. Along with the development of Balinese cultural tourism, the production of Celuk silver crafts has become increasingly varied. Designs and motifs are no longer tied to traditional designs and standards. New creations are starting to be developed according to market demands, especially the various designs from foreign tourists. Celuk Silver crafts was very popular in the 1980s, then declined since the 2000s. Until now, silver crafts still survive, but are not as popular as in the 1980s.
